EXAKT is a decision support tool for predicting reliability and optimizing condition based maintenance. It can predict equipment failure, estimate the remaining useful life of equipment, and define the mix of preventive replacement and run to failure to optimize costs and reliability and achieve an optimum balance of risk, cost, and reliability.

The software is applicable across a wide range of industries and uses: heavy industries with significant asset replacement costs; discrete manufacturing facilities; process manufacturing facilities; municipal and federal departments; telecom, gas, electrical, and water distribution companies.

Spares Management Software

SMS is a decision support tool for setting inventory levels for critical, slow moving and high cost parts. It combines science and economics to set inventory levels according to operations and performance needs, not just budgets. That said, one of the benefits of using SMS is reduced cost of spares, largely because of its predictive accuracy in its forecasting of the timing of replacements for current spares.

With the software, companies can set the spares levels required to meet multiple replacement conditions and reliability requirements: instant reliability, interval reliability, cost minimization, availability of the process or production unit; or availability during the period being planned given a certain stock size.

Plant and Equipment Replacement Decisions

PERDEC calculates the best replacement time for equipment. The software can assist managers with establishing the economic life of their assets, making optimal decisions in difficult repair versus replace situations, and monitoring individual equipment to establish its optimal replacement time.

The goal of PERDEC is to establish unambiguously the year at which the total cost takes its lowest value. That is identified as the asset’s economic replacement age.

This application includes:

  • Calculations that consider scope of time the user would like to consider for the data available, and acquisition costs of purchasing a new item in present day currency.
  • Parameters of constant utilization, variable utilization, and planned changes to utilization over the life of the equipment.
  • Resale values and rates to consider the value of dispensing with equipment in any given year.

The AGE/CON (based on the French term Age economique) software is very similar to PERDEC but is designed to assist owners and operators of mobile equipment establish the economic life of their assets, determine the optimal decision for difficult repair versus replace situations, and monitor individual equipment to establish its optimal replacement time.

Best practice management will create the lowest costs with the highest efficiency so that each vehicle serves the overall business as best it can with a minimum of downtime disruption. With AGE/CON, the user only needs to input the necessary data for the calculations to be made by the software.

This application includes:

  • Consideration and custom input of scope of time, constant or variable utilization measures, and inflation rates.
  • Discounting rate considering the present time-value of future cash flows to obtain a fair comparison of future and present values.
  • Calculation of taxes, operations and maintenance costs, and resale values for individual and fleet equipment.

OREST software is intended to help managers analyze their reliability data and obtain optimal replacement policies based on the data available. Using information about components, failure and suspension event information, and operating cost functions for components, OREST can execute Trend Analysis of failure data, perform Weibull Analysis, and then obtain the optimal preventive replacement policy. OREST will also identify the optimal change-out time for components that do not unexpectedly fail but show a decreasing level of performance as they age.
